Our Learning this term
Our literacy learning will follow our topic this half-term. We will be looking at a variety of explorers starting with Neil Armstrong.
There will still be a big focus on SPAG which will be fed into their literacy learning.
In maths the children will be learning about fractions of shape and number. They will also be looking at time in more depth - telling the time to 5 minute intervals and using language such as quarter past, quarter to.
This term will begin to look at different spelling patterns as well as recapping the Year 1 high frequency words and we will be focusing on applying these in our writing. New spellings are sent home every Friday with a spelling test the following Friday morning. The children will also be given opportunities to practise their spellings during the week.
|History & Geography||
In History This term in History, the children will be looking at the changes within their life time. As they have only been alive for 6 or 7 years we will be looking a little further back to see how technology, fashion and toys have changed.
Every Friday we have a spelling challenge linked to the spelling pattern that we have learnt that week. Please check your child's Home School Diary for any updates at the end of the week.
This year we have also introduced weekly arithmetic homework based on number bonds and simple additions. These are sent home every Friday alongside spellings and will be collected in by the following Thursday at the latest.
Games takes place on Tuesday afternoon during Autumn 1 and PE on Friday morning.
