Week 9
Weekend Homework for 18th November
Newspaper Reading
Next week we will begin looking at the skills and literacy devises used to be a great journalist. On Monday the children will complete a ‘cold task’ where they will write a newspaper article about anything they want.
This could include:
¨ what they did over the weekend,
¨ a match report/favourite sports team training programme
¨ an article about a dance recital
¨ a birthday surprise/party
¨ trip out with the family
ANYTHING GOES!
Over the weekend we would like the children to read a newspaper or watch the news (try Newsround or First News) They can bring in pictures to help their reports.
They do not need to write anything, just read and discuss how the news is written/presented and have an idea of what they will be writing about on Monday.
Week 8
Reading comprehension - please see class teacher for a sheet.
Week 6
Create a comic strip showing an Anglo-Saxon person committing a crime and the consequences they will face
Things to remember:
- Write what the characters are saying
- Have a box underneath the picture to explain what is happening
- The worse the crime, the bigger the punishment
(This task was started in class, all children were given a comic strip to fill in. Please see class teacher for a spare comic strip)
