Weekly Spellings

We spend 30 minutes a day on whole class reading. Above are the resources we will be using in class. Both texts have answer sheets for children to self-mark.

This week we are concluding our work based on the music video 'Titanium' by writing a diary entry from the boy's point of view. This is a great opportunity to use more informal language - a contrast to the formal police report from last week. Below are resources to help you plan and structure your diary entry.

Here is a suggested schedule:

Monday - Reading Comprehension - pick one of the texts and answer the questions

Tuesday - Look at the Diary WAGOLL (What A Good One Looks Like) and identify the type of language and features of a diary

Wednesday - Use the Titanium video to plan your own diary entry - sequence the events carefully.

Thursday and Friday - Write your diary entry, proof-read and edit your writing carefully.

Alternative option - Oak National Academy

Above are the resources that we will be using in class. If you do require more structure and tasks that children can complete more independently, below is a link to an Oak Academy unit of work which is of a similar nature (non-fiction writing).
