English

Good morning! Welcome to English!

Our topic for this half term is Space. This week, we are writing a description of a rocket taking off. Please read the WAGOLL (what a good one looks like) for inspiration.

On Wednesday, we will brainstorm ideas and vocabulary for our writing (some classes have started this). Mrs Mead will be hosting a live zoom at 9:30am (details in a parentmail) where we can brainstorm together and magpie ideas from each other. If you can, watch this video before the zoom- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnoNITE-CLc   which will help us with our ideas. Have a pen and paper ready to write down your ideas during the zoom call!

On Thursday, use your ideas from yesterday to write your own rocket take-off description. This should be completed in your English book (if you have been able to collect it). Write in a handwriting pen (or sensible equivalent) and write the date and title (Rocket Launch) neatly at the top. Stick in the paragraph strip if you want, to help you guide your writing. We would love to see what you have written so don't forget to email it to us!

On Friday, look carefully at your work from yesterday.

- Can you improve any of you sentence openers?

- Can you use a thesaurus to improve any of your words?

- Check at least 6 of your words in the dictionary.

Once you have done that, write up your work in your best handwriting. Finish publishing your work by drawing pictures under your description or you could draw over the top of the writing. You could even draw a border of pictures around your writing.
