Monday
It’s sad that we won’t be visiting Harry Potter Studios, as we had planned this summer. Instead, I thought it might be a good idea to base our English topic around Harry Potter this week. Don’t worry if you have never read Harry Potter or seen the films. You will still be able to do all the activities without having to do this.
Today, you’ll be finding out about the Sorting Hat. Complete the Sorting Hat questionnaire to find out which house you would best be suited to and also see some film clips of the Sorting Hat in action.
Follow the PowerPoint presentation and complete the songprehension activity.
Tuesday
Yesterday you found out all about the Sorting Hat and the job that it has at Hogwarts. You looked carefully at the songs that the Sorting Hat sings in two of the Harry Potter films. Look back at the songs that you read yesterday to help you with some ideas.
Wednesday
Today you’re going to be finding out all about the different types of potions used in Harry Potter and the effect they have on the user. The activity today is going to be thinking about a potion that you’d like to make and the effect you’d like it to have on the consumer.
Thursday
Now that you have thought about and decided on a potion that you could make, your task today will be to write instructions on how to make the potion. Go through the PowerPoint presentation first for the hints and tips on how to write a great set of instructions.
Friday
You’ll be learning all about spells today! Go through the PowerPoint and continue the story!
