Flittering gently in the warm breeze red, white and blue bunting was proudly strung between trees, over our heads.  Balloons stood tall and hung nobly along the street.  Long tables lined the road; covered in crisp-white table clothes and laden with food.  There was a buzz of excitement building in the air as children raced around knowing for once they were safe from any vehicles that usually occupied their road.  “Turn it up!” shouted Mrs Wilson who was swaying to the music as she carried a heavy tray piled high with sausage rolls.  Old music began to blare across the street and everyone started to sing – ‘We’ll meet again and Roll out the Barrel’ Jane and Jack rolled their eyes and started to laugh.
