Homework

Homework

This can be an important link between home and school. All junior children are expected to complete a certain amount of work at home. This is in accordance with County policy and stated in our school prospectus. Every child will be given a homework diary. Children should take their homework diary, reading scheme book and reading record book home with them each day and return them to school the following morning.

We expect children to read on a regular basis, for at least ten minutes every school night to supplement what is done in school and to encourage good reading habits. They will also be given times tables and spellings to learn on a weekly basis.

In addition, children will be asked to undertake one Maths and one English task each week. Each task should last approximately 20 minutes. If your child is unable to complete a task by the set time, we would appreciate a note of explanation.

Please sign both the reading record book and homework diary to show that the task has been completed. Occasionally, if a child has not completed class work, he or she may be asked to finish it at home. We appreciate your help in ensuring tasks are completed as we feel that homework is an important part of the learning process.
