  • School Council

A group of Year 5 and Year 6 children form the School Council each year and meet on a regular basis to discuss ways in which we can improve the school.  The children consider a wide range of areas, discuss these as a group, as well as with their classes, and help make a positive difference to the school.

Over the past two years the School Council has been heavily involved in :

    • Deciding on the four school values
    • The  Teaching and Learning Policy
    • Creating a set of rules for eating in the dining hall
    • Suggesting a range playground activities to ensure playtimes and lunchtimes are an enjoyable and healthy experience for children. These ideas have seen a girls' only football pitch introduced, basketball hoops set up, new playground markings to play specific games, a designated quiet area for drawing and reading, a lunchtime Lego club (calm club), a construction and creative area and infant children to have  shared use of the all weather pitch.
    • Participating in surveys for a number of school areas
    • Introducing Worry box/Worry monsters to enable children to share a concern with a trusted adult
    • Introducing a parking poster competition - winning designs to be displayed for car users to read
    • Introducing 'Show Racism the Red Card' school art competition
    • Introducing a new 'Achievement Certificate' competition; the children chose the best design to be sued in achievement assemblies
