Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
Promoting Equality, Diversity and Inclusion:
At The Greville, we teach the children that no form of discrimination is tolerated and that they show respect for those who share the 9 protected characteristics, under the Equality Act 2010. We ensure that our curriculum design and lesson content promotes and values all learners, all adults and all families.
At The Greville Primary School, rather than teaching all the protected characteristics in every year group, we ensure that our children are given opportunities to develop age-appropriate knowledge and understanding through a well-planned and delivered curriculum.
Under the Equality Act, these are the nine protected characteristics:
- Age
- Disability
- Gender reassignment
- Race - including colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin
- Religion or belief
- Marriage or civil partnership
- Sex
- Sexual orientation
- Pregnancy and maternity
We work to ensure that our children understand that EVERYONE IS WELCOME at The Greville:
– Everyone is different
– We celebrate our differences
– We are all equal in our differences
– We can get along with one another even if we are different
– We live in the UK, our British Values support this and the law says this too.
