Fluency in Number Facts

EYFS and KS1

Mastering Number

In reception, children follow the Mastering Number Scheme which is supplemented with White Rose resources. In Key Stage 1, in addition to Mathematics lessons, children also take part in ‘Mastering Number’ sessions. These sessions aim to secure firm foundations in the development of good number sense for all children from Reception through to Year 1 and Year 2. The aim over time is that children will leave KS1 with fluency in calculation and a confidence and flexibility with number. Attention will be given to key knowledge and understanding needed in Reception classes, and progression through KS1 to support success in the future.

Number Bots

NumBots is all about every child achieving the “triple win” of understanding, recall and fluency in mental addition and subtraction, so that they move from counting to calculating.

All children in KS1 have access to the resources and are expected to practice their number facts each week as part of their homework.

KS2

Number Sense

Mastering number is a progressive programme which builds fluency in multiplication & division facts, and understanding of multiplicative relationships.

Times Table Rock Stars

Times Tables Rock Stars is a maths programme that takes all the worry out of learning times tables and has a proven track record of boosting children’s fluency and recall in multiplication and division. A fluent and quick recall of multiplication and division facts lays the foundation for the maths curriculum in both KS2 and KS3 (Year 7 – 9). Therefore by ensuring children’s fluency in these facts the are set up for success in maths lessons.

All children in KS2 have access to the resources on this website both in and out of school. Children are expected to practice their timetable each week as part of their homework. We also run inter school battles.
